Change

Way back at the beginning of the year my intentions for 2010 were to make change a priority
and by change I mean BIG change.

So I have started off with a small ( but personally big ) gesture to the new year and cut my hair, yup, took a whole 5 inches off, it's so different that my family has yet to say if they like it... just "oh you cut your hair?" Anyways I like it, feels good.

More change- Hettle now has an official bookkeeper YEA! ( and it's not me) slowly I have begun to change the way the shop works so I can make the most of how I parse my time with my graphic design work. New products are on the horizon and I am excited to expand Hettle beyond pillows.
Below are a few images of my new business cards-

I was quite pleased with them- came much quicker than I was told and are reasonably priced considering they have rounded corners and full color on both sides- If you too are looking to have cards printed I did these online with 4by6.com - great customer service too. Next up Postcards!
Hope everyone has a relaxing weekend, Cheers!

Sunshine In My Mailbox

Hi there, this morning I woke to an email from a buyer who sent me this image from her flikr page- my pillow cover in her office! Besides the fantastic styling, how cool is it that customer went to the trouble to send this to me and tell me how much she is enjoying it.

Just another reason to love handmade- Thank you Mari.

Ho Hum

Just a few scenes from around my home last night and today-
It looks to be about 7 inches of snow- unexpected snow that is, can't help but feel a little glum, seems like spring is so far away now. I suppose it doesn't help that I am spending the week writing project proposals for the day job- maybe tomorrow there will be sun.

the little things

Although I was never much of the Valentines "Celebrator" (is that even a word?)
- with little kids you just can't help but get into it- the lulu's made 42 valentines for friends, classmates and family. Whew!

We also stuffed ourselves with pink cupcakes and boxed chocolates- it's no surprise that I'm dragging around today... ugh-

Love Week - Cards

Hello, Happy Thursday!
Today I thought I would share a lovely Etsy shop and blogger Keli of
Colette Paperie she was so kind to contact me and support my shop on her blog, may I just say that this is what I love about the blog community, that daily someone I have never met does something nice for me - a true joy and inspiration.

For Valentines Day Keli's shop is filled with many sweet note cards, screen printed journals, calenders, and super cute sticky notes all 15% off until the 14th so hurry quick and scoop one up!

Love Week - Art

Until recently I was completely unaware that our home has an abundance of the written word LOVE around, in addition, there are also quite a few hearts ? Most look like the one above or have some sort of barbed wire around it? Wow huh? So now that I've shared that tidbit about myself I'm going to go have a cup of tea and obsess about what that says about me-

But first- some love for the artists on Etsy xo
Jessica Gonacha / You are so Loved / screen print
The Love Shop / Je Taime / print

Lisa Chow / Enough of Silly Love Songs / print

Kristine Mays / Have a Heart / 5$ will benefit disaster relief in Haiti
Yumiyumi / Jardim de Amour / print
MonJoJo / Reach It / Illustration

Fly with Me / Love Birds / photo

Love Week

I just love Valentines Day-
This window display at a local shop the Whyevernot was so clever!

( looking for an online link to the shop??)

Inside there was a table set up to make your own valentines, to be displayed.
My mom made a few for the lulu's .....
and we were pleasantly surprised to notice that many of the goods sold here were from small
independant artists that I have seen around the blogs, like Rag and Bone Bindery, Papaya just to name a few. Has anyone else noticed this as a trend? Many national magazines you pick up I'm seeing Etsy shops, and goods featured regularly, pretty great if you ask me!

Recycled Sparkle

Still in shiny sparkly world here, I saw these clever brooch bouquets by Amanda Heer of Fantasy Floral Designs and was charmed by what a fantastic way to re purpose jewelry! Do you have pieces that were given to you or once belonged to a family member, that maybe you wouldn't wear.. but still cherish and like to look at? On her site there are some sweet images of family members looking at their bouquets made form their own jewelry, just a brilliant way celebrate-

Sparkly Inspiration

This is so fantastic I had to use it twice! LOVE!
The Moon!!

So normally I am not one to get excited for anything sparkly, or shiny but lately....

This is the Armani Prive spring 2010 collection inspired by the moon you can find the whole slide show on Style.com and it is well worth the time, simply beautiful.

Sneak Preview:: Fabrics

Hi, it's a super busy time, as I prepare for some great things happening this month, as usual there is less time for playful things, like this blog, and commenting on some of my favorites, but you know something's got to give! So here are few fun things now on my shelves and I can't wait to start new listings.
Since the shop receives many requests for custom items these images will be added to my flicker page to make it easier for buyers to take a peek at some fabrics I have, but not listed.

I hope every one is well, and sincerely hope to get in some more fun posting, and commenting. Happy Monday :)
