Whoopi!

Oh yes...this beauty is a red velvet whoopie pie, a nice addition to the coffee I picked up today at Starbucks, and hopin' it motivates me to get more work done.  Been one of those days where I can't seem to pick up a good work rhythm, do you know what I  mean?

If you have some time go see Cindy, she has an awesome cheesy Thursday HERE, and it totally reminded me THIS, could this be the reason I can't seem to focus???

Have a great day~

A little photo play

Hi again, Geez, It just started to snow so it feels like the perfect time to share some photos I took last week when it really felt like spring, warm and sunny.

A while back I posted some images I made while experimenting with my Canon, by removing the lens from the mount, manually focusing while tilting it slightly in any direction (free lensing). Both photos are original and have not been photoshopped. Such a fun way to play with digital...brings me back to days when you could do all the manipulation by hand in a dark room, such fun.

Love the light. You can achieve a more precise result by using a Lensbaby for this, it's on my list of must  have's ...just can't decide which one?

later in the week I'll be experimenting and sharing the results with this thrift shop find,

looks like fun right?

Spring Fever

It's about 70 outside today and tomorow it will be back to the 40's so I'm getting off the computer and heading outside...to go sit on my new pair of IKEA PS Vago plastic molded chairs :)

They had just a limited amount of these and usually my local IKEA sells out of summer stock pretty quick,  thought they would be great for product photos too.

Hope your day is full of sunshine ~

Water Colors :: New Hettle Covers for Spring

Hi again, as promised some new items in the shop for Hettle.....

All hand dyed (dip dye) on cream cotton jersey, in Fuschia, Navy, Midnight Blue, and Golden Yellow. I may add other colors depending on sales ~ They do kinda say SPRING don't they? Think easter eggs!

Later in the week I will add some dyeing info & tips...not my method, because that would be silly, but some do's and don'ts I've learned through much experimenting.

What do you think?

It's a Girl!!

I kid...not a snowballs chance, really. But I am focused on pink lately....all shades, it's a very soothing color, that there is no sign of in my home or closet, not even my little girls room. So I'm adding it, why not? A few selections below from my shopping bookmark....enjoy the pink!

Warby Parker Frames, I need reading glasses but have been to cheap to get a pair, these can be shipped to your home FREE to try on....yes thank you.

Dress or Tunic My Garden Powder Pink Linen, Isabel Amayo (ETSY)
Domed Cameo Profile Ring, Golden Ink

John Robshaw Blockprinted Decorative Pillow
Nikki Jones, Silk Quilt with Handmade Pom Poms ( pom poms!)
Umbrella Prints (ETSY), Trimmings Pack (such potential to make something fun)
Connected Goods, Handmade, Fair Trade Woven African Basket (ok not pink, but beautiful)

Hip and Clavical (ETSY), 3D wall butterflies (would be so pretty on a dark wall)
Romantic Pink (ETSY), Pink Doily Cello Bags (c'mon now thats sweet)

So I could really go on and on here, what do you think, do you have a color that your drawn too...and yet it doesn't appear in your home or closet at all ? Let me know, hope you have a great weekend!

revived

Hello there, it's been a while since I've played around with fabric and felt genuinely motivated to make something new, until this week that is. A few posts back there were a few images of some dyed pillow covers I had made, these were an attempt this past summer to make pieces that were each unique.  Here is what I learned during that attempt. Never dye fabric outside, or rather never dry fabric outside. Why? Wind. Wind blows tiny particles of leaves and tree's and dust and it settles into the fabric upon drying and that makes for dirty looking fabric that can't be sold. So thats what I learned that day, control your environment.

Above is just a sneak peak, I've learned so much about hand dying and I will share as soon as I get all these new goodies loaded into the shop. *Note* the use of pink here...I am in a major pink phase, not sure what's going on with that, I just like it. So for Friday, a bunch of pink stuff, so check back.

Thanks Ladies ::

Hello, and happy Thursday to you, and Happy International Women's Day, who knew we had one of those? Ok, I didn't, I just saw it on the Huffington Post, and if you hop on over there you can read blog posts from some pretty incredible women from all over the world speaking on the topic of well, women.

Which is the inspiration for this post today, my gratitude for you. Day after day I check in on Etsy, read the blogs, twitter, flickr, post here, comment there... and my experience is one that is overwhelmingly supportive. It's quite a fantastic thing to feel the support of a community of largely women, and we have never even met. I think that's amazing....Amazing! I sincerely appreciate that when I post some odd attempt at something new that the responses are encouraging and helpful, and it's made me be more diligent in putting that same encouragement back out there in my day to day interactions online and off. Such a simple thing...such great impact. Think about how many women here in the handmade/blog community support other women that they have never met, by just encouraging and acknowledging their thoughts and idea's...now that's powerful.

So Happy International Women's Day! Eve Ensler wrote the quote below, damn she get's right to the point!
